Following a period of rain, the state of West Bengal, including metropolitan Kolkata, has witnessed the cessation of rainfall, leading to a resurgence in temperatures. The Meteorological Department reported that over the past 24 hours, there has been no precipitation, resulting in a noticeable increase in temperatures. Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 26.5 degrees Celsius, which is one degree higher than the normal range, while the maximum temperature climbed to 31.6 degrees Celsius.
Rainfall has also subsided in various other districts, including Howrah, Hooghly, East and West Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura, North and South 24 Parganas, contributing to the temperature rise. However, some areas in North Bengal, such as Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong, continue to experience light rain. Notably, these regions are already grappling with flood-like conditions due to elevated water levels in the Teesta River.
Weather forecasts predict a dry spell until Monday, potentially offering some respite from the ongoing situation.
